Action 4.3 Select Improvement Actions

Purpose

To identify the steps that need to be taken to eliminate the root cause or  to focus upon implementing the opportunity that has been identified and to select those steps that have maximum impact and are doable. 

DESIRED OUTCOME

  • Once this step is completed, you will have an identified list of steps that can be actioned to implement change in the workplace. 

How to do it

Using the cause and effect diagram, the data collected and the pareto analysis, draw up a tree diagram of the steps that you would need to go through to change the work process and eliminate the cause or causes of error, waste, rework or things gone wrong. 

 

It may be necessary to use a prioritisation matrix to weight the different steps in terms of: 

  • impact on the customer 

  • impact on employees 

  • impact on operating cost 

  • doability (can we do this now?) 

 

Select the actions that will provide the most benefit when they have been implemented.
